About
Jack Smith is a British artist who lives and works in Barcelona. He especially enjoys painting landscapes and portraits. He is currently exhibiting a series of figures by the sea in Kunstbehandlung Art Gallery in Munich. He has also exhibited in several venues in the United Kingdom including the Museum of Oxford and the Pitt Rivers Museum.
Jack likes to experiment with different techniques. He uses palette knives to apply the paint thickly and lately has been using fast circular motions to give a dreamlike quality. Jack’s favourite artists include Post-Impressionist painters such as Paul Cézanne, and contemporary artists such as Doron Langberg and David Hockney.
Jack has a strong engagement with the LGBTQ+ community and his Pride in London painting was recently selected by the UK Magistrates Association to be among the exhibition: “A 100 years of justice”. He was also invited for a solo exhibition at St. John’s College, University of Oxford with a series of portraits depicting the lives of LGBTQ+ people in Oxford. He is represented by Spanish queer art gallery, Inéditad and Kunstbehandlung art gallery in Germany.
Jack will be pleased to answer any inquiry that you might have or provide information on commissioning a piece at: [email protected]
